Hi, this is Chelsea from Tiny Frog Technologies. I am the Development Coordinator here and I’d like to talk to you a little bit today about organizing your website content. On WordPress websites it’s really important to organize your website content so that it flows and makes sense for all of your users.
This is becoming especially important for users with accessibility needs. So anybody that’s coming to your site with assistive technology in anyway whether it be a screen reader or any of the new technology that’s come out, your website content is really important as you already know. This is important for search engine optimization, but also for the general user experience.
How to Improve Your Website Content
1. Use FAQ Accordions
The first thing is to considered a FAQ accordion. FAQ’s are usually just quick question clips and then underneath is your answer. The easiest way to really allow the users to experience your FAQ’s properly is to add an accordion that expands when the user clicks on the question. This is really helpful to not only save space for you but to make sure that your users are getting the information that they need when they’re there in need of it. So I highly recommend using a FAQ accordion on any pages that have any questions or answers that you’re offering to your users.
2. Blog Categories
My next tip would be to offer users categories that they can select from within your blog post. Anytime you create a blog post it’s really important that your users are able to select a category. If they are looking through all of your blog posts for something very specific that could take a while especially if you’re a frequent blogger. So in the back end when you’re creating your blog post make sure that you add the appropriate category so when users are on your site they’re able to select easily what they’re looking for and be able to navigate to that immediately.
3. Images on Internal Pages
And our final recommendation for your website content is adding images to your internal pages. If you don’t already have images on your internal pages it’s a great idea to add some into the pages to make sure that your content is kept fresh. And there’s also an additional bonus of having something really rich next to that content. That makes it easy to understand and allows your users a full experience of your content. For the images, don’t forget to add alt tags. These are just descriptions for the images. It’s really important for any users with accessibility needs to have that backup basically of what the image means. So if they’re on your site with a screen reader it’s able to give them the full understanding of the visual component on top of the content that you’re already offering text wise.
