Hi this is Jessica with TinyFrog Technologies, I’m our Marketing Director. Today I want to talk about featured images on your website. For any WordPress website, in the WordPress dashboard you can set a featured image for a blog post or a page. And it’s really important that you don’t miss that when you’re adding new pages or a new post to your site.
Basically what happens if you don’t have a featured image for a blog post, even if there’s an image on that post – if someone were to take the post and share the URL on a social media platform, the social media platform like Facebook or Google+ is going to try to just grab the right image they think goes with that article. And a lot of times they’ll get it wrong. They’ll just pull a random image. Maybe from the footer of your site. And you may see this in news feeds on social media platforms where someone shares a URL and then there’s kind of an odd thumbnail picture showing for the blog post.
So make sure when you’re adding a new blog post or adding a new page to your site, always go in and set a nice featured image. That way anytime someone shares any great content from your site it’s really representing your brand and your website in the best way.
