Hello, this is Mikel with TinyFrog Technologies. I want to talk a little bit about email marketing as a form of a marketing channel for your business. A lot of companies do use email marketing, a lot of companies don’t. It’s been around for quite a long time, almost as long as websites, in fact, probably in the late 90s when companies started using it effectively. And it’s still underused by a lot of companies.
A lot of companies don’t use email marketing because they don’t feel like they have the content that they can create for newsletters, and that’s probably not a good reason to to neglect doing it because one of the big benefits of email marketing is that even if you have a small list, every time you send out your newsletter, even if someone doesn’t read it, it’s a great way to stay in front of them. It’s almost like a branding initiative to stay top of mind, so it’s a really great way to stay connected with your potential clients and with your existing clients. That’s probably one of the main “whys” of why to use email marketing.
From a budgetary perspective, it’s probably the most cost-effective forms of marketing that exists. You can literally reach 5000 people or five thousand potential clients for around a hundred dollars a month, or whenever you send out the newsletter. So that’s very very cost effective compared to other forms of marketing.
In terms of content, you know one of the reasons as I mentioned a lot of people companies don’t use it because they don’t feel like they have the time or energy to create content. But creating content can be relatively simple. Most newsletters, in fact, less is more in terms of the content that you’re creating so you don’t need to write five thousand-word essays for newsletters. It could literally be three, four hundred words.
You can also repurpose content that’s already in your blogs. You can use videos if you’re creating videos. That’s a great way to repurpose the videos as well and it’s worth the effort if you don’t have the time to write a newsletter.
You can easily hire a copywriter and just write a rough outline and have them write the newsletters, and they don’t need to go out very often. You could probably send out a newsletter once a month. I wouldn’t recommend you know going beyond once a quarter because then you’re going to lose some of the benefits of staying in touch and staying connected to your audience and your target market.
Another great way – another great reason to us email marketing is that you can connect and integrate it with your website. So if you have a website and you’re driving traffic to your website, you can easily connect with people or capture their email addresses by having some kind of incentive or lead magnet or incentive-based opt-in for them to sign up for your newsletter. And every time someone does that, you’re adding one potential client to that database. Every time you send out the newsletter that can grow, so it’s a great way to take advantage of traffic that’s already visiting your website.
And getting in the habit of it is, you know, again it’s worth doing because you can send them out every month and as your email list grows automatically through either adding people or potential clients to it, or by people visiting your website, you’ll expand your reach. There’s a lot of reasons to consider using email marketing. There’s a lot of reasons to add that to your marketing channel, so we definitely recommend doing it for all of our clients.
