Hello, this is Mikel Bruce CEO of Tiny Frog Technologies. I’d like to talk a little bit about e-commerce websites and whether or not it’s a good fit for your business and for your website. We have a lot of companies who have typical or standard marketing websites who contact us and who want to build a new site and add e-commerce to it. Or who want to add e-commerce to their existing website. And in some cases it’s a good fit. In some cases it may not be a good fit.
Probably one of the primary determining factors as to whether or not e-commerce is a good fit for your website in terms of the products and services you sell, is a big one… a main one… the price. If you’re selling products that are very expensive and don’t have a really strong recognizable brand, many of your potential clients would prefer to call and get information and purchase those over the phone. That’s probably the primary factor.
The other factor is whether or not you’re selling services and/or products. If it’s services, this is sometimes a little bit more difficult to sell online compared to products. And the third factor is do you want to invest in the expense of having an e-commerce application built into your website because there will definitely be an expense in terms of adding it to the website, having it maintained, and adding fees associated with merchants processor. And things like that. So there are some factors to consider and whether or not to add e-commerce to your website. If you have any questions in that area please feel free to give us a call. This is Mikel with Tiny Frog Technologies.
