Hi, this is Jessica with TinyFrog Technologies and today I’d like to talk about website style guides. Now a website style guide is very similar to a branding style guide, if you’ve heard of that or you have one for your own company’s brand.
How to Utilize a Website Style Guide
And basically, during a website project, your website designer would put together this style guide and it has tons of information about the design of the site.
Typically, they’ll include the font types used, the different font sizes for the H1s, H2s, H3s, etc. It will also have the primary colors that are used in the website design. And then the last thing is, it will also usually have the buttons and hover over effects.
Now the first kind of use for the style guide is for the developer. So the web developer or web development team is going to use that and follow those design styles when they are building out the site. But you’ll also want to make sure that you keep a copy of the website style guide after the website launches.
It can be a really helpful tool especially if you’ve adjusted your branding colors at all with the website design. Because you can then take all of those elements and make sure you are using the same colors and fonts anytime you are doing marketing campaigns. This is a critical component for brand consistency, and it can help customers recognize your company and brand anywhere online.
And then you also want to make sure you are adhering to those style guides if you are making changes on the site in the future. So, if you have any questions about your website, definitely reach out to our team.
