Bad things can happen to your website, like it can get hacked or a user can break it. One of the main reasons daily back ups are so important is if something bad happens you can revert to an earlier version of the site with a click of a button and restore the site to what is was prior to the hacking or code break down. This can be more or less complicated depending on who you’re hosting with.Another good reason to back up regularly is if the server goes down you can easily reload the site once the server is back online. This is especially important if yours is an eCommerce site and people are placing orders. In fact if your site uses a cart, you may want to back up your website every hour.
When you’re going to do updates or maintenance to your website you’ll want to create a fresh back up first. If the update of the plugins causes breakage, you’ll have a restore point and you can start fresh.
We use WordPress Engine which automatically does back ups every day because we think it’s that important. If you have any questions about backups please give us a call!
