Hi I’m Brett Curry with TinyFrog Technologies Search Marketing Specialist. Today I want to talk to you about videos for your website and the impact on organic search. So videos just in general are a great way to keep your audience engaged and entertained. So the more you can add them to the website for that purpose is a benefit. But more and more videos are becoming more important for organic search as well. Some of the statistics show that videos makeup sixty-two percent of all Google search results. Universally they’ve also started to blend the video results into the other text search results so they’re kind of getting mixed in with all the searches now, you no longer have to click on that video tab to get your video results.
In addition, video content in the search results tends to be more engaging, gets a much higher click-through rate than your typical text listing for a page. So just lots of benefits here from video for organic search. So anytime you can create a video that’s relevant put it on your website and your blog perhaps- it can be a good thing.
So a couple things I would suggest is that you use YouTube as your platform, host your videos there. Embed them on your website. YouTube is a Google product so you’re getting extra benefit there. It’s also the second largest search engine. In addition to that, make sure you create a good description for your video, include some relevant keyword phrases also so you get that focus in there for that content. And then most importantly keep your videos short, maybe somewhere in the one to two-minute range. Attention span is a big issue so you want to keep it concise.
