Hi, my name is Elise and I am a web strategist at TinyFrog Technologies, and I want to talk about technology and whether or not you should be implementing that “next big thing” that’s hitting the market.
Technology of course is always changing and it’s a lot to keep up with, and it can be really easy to feel like you have to keep up and you have to implement the next piece of of technology or software or tool on your website. But that’s actually not the case, and it’s important to be mindful of what you’re implementing and whether or not it’s the right fit for you.
There’s three main things that you should be considering before choosing to implement a new piece of technology into your company.
The first is how it works with the technology that you already have. So maybe there’s a new software that’s a better fit for your team than what you’re currently using and it makes sense to swap it out but maybe the new piece of technology contradicts something that you have in place and you’re not willing to make that swap. That’s no problem. If it doesn’t work with your tech stack now, you don’t have to implement it.
The next thing to consider is how valuable it will be for your team. So, is there a high learning curve? Are you going to have to spend hours and hours training someone or multiple people on your team in order to actually implement this and use it effectively? If that’s the case, it may or may may not be worth the time and the effort to do it, and it’s something that your team should really be thinking about before you decide to add it to your website or to your marketing collateral.
The third and final and probably the most important piece is whether or not it will be of benefit to your clients and to your visitors. Sometimes your visitors might not be the most tech savvy or want to take the time to learn how to use technology, and the last thing you want to do is force them into doing that and adding something that’s going to be confusing or overwhelming for them to use.
So, before you implement something, make sure that it works for your team and it works for your audience.
I do want to spend just a minute talking about the biggest and the newest technology that’s popping up everywhere, which of course is AI. AI can be really helpful for your website. You can use it to write drafts or scripts for your blogs or for your videos or podcasts, which can definitely save your team time and spark some new ideas and make it easier for you to produce content. Another tool that it provides is helping out with your analytics and with tracking data and making sure that your website is efficient and updated and performing as best as it can be. So there’s definitely some great ways to implement AI.
Maybe, however, using an AI chatbot for example isn’t the best fit for your company. Maybe your services or your company situation is a little bit more complex or a little bit of a case-by-case situation where it would take a little bit too much effort to get an AI to have the answers to all of your questions or be able to provide insight into your services. Maybe, from my point earlier, your clients are not super tech savvy and they don’t want to deal with the chatbot. They don’t want to try and get their answers by going back and forth with an AI and would rather call or email you instead. So just an example there.
There’s some great ways to implement new technology and there’s some things to be mindful of before you dive into that “next big trend.” If you find technology that you’re looking to add to your website and you need some extra help, feel free to reach out to us. Thanks!
