Hi everyone, my name is Chelsea and I’m a development coordinator with TinyFrog Technologies. Today I want to talk to you about planning for your e-commerce website.
Now you may think that it’s a little silly, but I’d like to start with considering the options for your products. A lot of times clients will have a few products and maybe one or two of those will actually have variations, so it’s important to consider what options you want to share with the users on your website and how they’re going to be able to select those different variation options.
The next important thing to consider is your payment gateway. During the checkout process, you want to be able to provide your users with an efficient way to process their payments, so it’s important to look into a few different payment processor options. Some of the most popular ones we’ve seen have been Stripe, Paypal, Authorized.net – just to name a few.
I also think it’s really important for you to consider your shipping options when that user is checking out. It’s important to offer them at least one clear option for shipping on the website, so they kind of have an idea of what to expect in terms of that shipping cost for the product.
And lastly when you’re thinking about your checkout process for your e-commerce website, it’s really important for you to think about whether or not you would like that person to be able to access those account details time and time again. So when they visit your website and check out on another product, they have the option to re-utilize all of the information they’ve already shared with you.
Guest checkout is also a great option but just for ease of use it can be really helpful for users to be able to have an account that they can reference all of those order details from the past.
