Hello, my name is Mikel Bruce with TinyFrog Technologies. I want to talk a little bit about nonprofit websites. We work with a lot, quite a few, nonprofits and we’ve built quite a few non-profit websites in the past.
3 Tips for Non-Profit Websites
There’s some very specific things that should be considered if you have a non-profit or if you’re going to be upgrading your website for a non-profit business. So there’s some things that are very distinct to that business that may or may not apply to other types of websites.
1. Understand Your Different Stakeholders
First thing that’s really important is most non-profit websites have a number of different types of visitors that are coming to the website. It could be donors, it could be volunteers, it could be sponsors, it could be the community that you serve. Many non-profit websites actually have products that they sell, so it could be you know visitors, consumers coming to purchase things.
Typically non-profit websites have multiple different types of visitors that need to be appealed to at the exact same time.
2. Create a User-Friendly, Modern Design
It’s really important that your web agency is doing some pretty good upfront work to make sure they’re kind of discerning the needs of those visitors and building the website to speak to all those different needs.
And it’s a tricky thing to do because you have different people coming to the same website with different goals and objectives. And you have to speak to all those needs at the same time. So, it’s really important that the website is factoring all of that in into the process.
Oftentimes non-profit websites should be easy to use, easy to navigate. A high quality websites very important because the website is representing the organization and the work that they do so very high-quality, modern, contemporary design is gonna be very important.
3. Optimize the Site for Donations
Most non-profit websites are soliciting donors, so you should have a really good high-quality page that is speaking to the people who are about to donate and why they should donate and how they should donate. How you’re facilitating the transaction should also be very user friendly.
Some non-profit websites have members so a membership integration might be involved and other types of integration could be involved in that website. There’s a lot of things to consider if you’re building and creating a website for a non-profit organization.
