I’d like to talk a little bit about Hosting Video on Your Website or putting video on your website. I think videos still play a very important role in a website, we’re creating these web videos right now because we know that the engagement level or the chances of someone watching them is greater than if as if we had written content, so I think videos plays a really important role in your website but it’s important to know what kind of video and where it should go.
This video that were creating is more casual what I refer to as blog video and it’s perfect for putting on your internal pages of your website or your blog. If you’re going to put a website a video on your homepage it really should have a different impact or it should be designed and created differently.
If you’re gonna put a video on your web on your homepage it really needs to be more general and speak about your company in a more general sense. The homepage is really a portal to allow someone to gain access to different areas of your business through different pages in your website. So the homepage video first of all should be more general, secondly should be a much higher quality video in terms of its production value almost like a commercial video, so if you’re gonna put a video on your homepage it really needs to be a high quality video that represents the quality of the company. And then the video on the homepage really should be designed into the page so just putting a video there randomly won’t work because it really needs to kind a tie back to the strategy and the aesthetics of the site.
So it should be designed into the site whether it be a really nice bottom or designed it to an area of this site. And in many cases nowadays you’re seeing video backdrops or videos in what is referred to as the hero area. First thing you see when you land on a website is a video usually it’s a backdrop video and it’s almost like a short video on a loop and I think that has value if that video has relevance to what you’re doing and why someone should consider using your services.
So just putting a random video there that doesn’t really have any connection to your value proposition can really deter. From the reason that someone lands on your website. Hosting video on your website is really a great idea, there’s just several different types of video, the quality of the video is important, how it’s built into designed to the site where it’s placed all those things really need to be considered when you’re considering having video on your website.
