Hi this is Jessica with TinyFrog Technologies and today I’d like to talk about the onboarding phase of a web design project. The onboarding phase takes place in between the contract being signed for the project and the first kickoff call happening, and it’s a really important phase for our team and most businesses.
We’ve put in a lot of work to make sure there’s clear documentation and process during this part of the project. During our onboarding phase, we’ll typically work with clients to get all the billing items done, take care of any administrative tasks, and pass along some resources like a project plan that outlines all the different stages of the project and what to expect.
We also like to take that time at the beginning of the project to introduce the website team, so it takes a lot of different individuals and skill sets to create a high quality and effective site. Typically our website teams are made up of a web strategist, a web designer, a web developer and also a development coordinator. So during the onboarding phase, we’ll actually present a “meet the team” or “introduction document” to clients where they get to read some bios and get to know the team a little bit better.
Now most businesses actually have an onboarding phase for different services. You may have a period of time happening in between a contract being signed and the services starting, so you may want to evaluate what happens with your customers at that point and who oversees the process.
It’s a really important stage of any type of project or service because it sets the tone for how everything’s going to go forward with your team.
