Standing out from the crowd can feel like a big challenge, especially with the increased competition. So, it is really important to figure out ways in which you can stand out from all of that competition and so that you can really catch your client’s eyes and really get them to take action with you.
One of the first things that you want to do is you want to make sure that you identify the type of visitor that you’re looking for, and that everything on your website is aligned with that type of visitor. So, for example, if you are targeting entrepreneurs, your brand voice and style may be quite professional. It needs to resonate with them bottom line because they are going to be consuming the information. But, the way that they consume the information could be and probably is quite different than the way, say, women might consume the information. They’re going to be a different type of visitor with different type of content needs and different type of imagery needs.
So, once you’ve identified who it is that your visitor is and who it is that you want to work with, here’s some really simple ways in which you can stand out.
First, you can share personal information. Share fun things like your hobbies – maybe your favorite foods or your favorite sports team. Another way is that you can just quite simply have fun; Just relax, tell your story, be a person, have personal imagery. So, when you have your “Meet the Team” page, for example, instead of using stock photography or using headshots that are really serious, have them be be fun shots. Fun shots of you, fun shots of your team.
Also, you can incorporate videos. Videos are a great place for you to show off who you are, how you speak, how you interact. They really are quite engaging and visitors tend to like them quite a lot.
Another thing to think about is don’t just look at other financial advisor firms. Try looking at other industries and see outside of your industry, perhaps what it is that people are doing to convey who they are and to have their company stand out because, so long as you’re clear in making sure that you convey who you are and what you do, having some unique ways to stand out from that competition is a really good thing.
