Hello this is Mikel with Tiny Frog Technologies. I want to talk a little bit today about financial website design. We do quite a few websites for financial consultants in a variety of industries. There are a couple different features that we can build into a website that can really add value to the website and the experience that the visitor has.
So the two things I want to talk about today are case studies (does your website show that you’re a thought leader or an authority in the particular industry that you consult within?) and making sure to have an impressive team page. For a case study, it’s really helpful to have a section or a page on your website that’s dedicated to showing successful experiences that previous clients have had. If you work with a variety of different types of clients, you can create a representation for each one, and they may be real-life clients or an avatar that’s representing a particular client type.
Typically when we have clients that build case studies on their website, they’ll feature the case study as a main section or page on the home page. You probably don’t want to have too many because it can become overwhelming. Anywhere from three or four is probably sufficient. Again, it’s really important that each case study features a different service that you offer, like focusing on a different service or on a very different type of client that you’re working with.
The other item to consider is a team page on your website. It’s really helpful to have a page that really highlights the team. It might be called “Team” or “About”. We typically recommend that the page has a nice design so it’s not just a picture with a bio wrapped around which makes it look generic. What we’ll typically do is design a really nice custom layout for that particular page that prominently features and highlights the team. It’s really helpful to have images for all your primary team members (if you have a huge team) or possibly just feature the leaders or the managers. If you have less than fifteen members, it might be a good idea to feature all the people on your team. In terms of the images, it’s really helpful to have professional headshots that are consistent in terms of the look of the headshot and style, so investing in a photographer is very beneficial.
Finally, long bios can actually be more of a distraction. A short bio may be preferable so that it’s not overwhelming for the visitor. The most common thing that we recommend doing is setting up a blog and utilizing that blog to post content such as videos, short articles, press releases, or even success stories you’ve had with other clients. Many of our clients actually are doing podcasts nowadays and where they feature and integrate those directly into the website. If you’re doing a newsletter, which we always recommend, you can repurpose a lot of that content in your blog for your newsletter as well.
Overall, these are some ideas that we recommend to a consultant to add to your website to make your website a more engaging tool and a better marketing tool for your business. Please feel free to reach out to us anytime.
