Hi, this is Jessica with TinyFrog Technologies and today I’d like to talk about WordPress blog design options.
When we work with clients and create a new website, we always recommend that they start doing a blog and posting content regularly to the site. There’s a lot of different blog design options you can choose from. When we work with clients on a website redesign, we typically go over 3 different blog design options.
One of the considerations for which layout option you choose is what type of content you are going to be posting regularly to your blog. Are you going to be doing video blogs, press releases, long form articles, etc. You definitely can do all different types of content for a blog but some of the layout options may be better depending on your content.
For instance, one of our common layout design options has a list of categories at the very top where you can put maybe 6 category options as buttons at the top of the blog. Now if you’re going to categorize a huge number of posts and put maybe 20 categories, that layout option may not be the best choice because you wouldn’t be able to fit all 20 at the top of the page.
If you’re going to be doing a lot of video content, you’ll want to talk to our team about maybe doing a video gallery as a layout option where you can really highlight all the great video content.
The last thing I’ll mention is some of the layout options now for more modern blogs have a portfolio look to them where you’re really highlighting each featured image of the blog post. So if you end up going with that option, you want to make sure when you’re posting content to your website that you select really high quality, nice blog images so that the main blog page has a really nice look to it.
