So when we’re redesigning a website, clients often ask us whether they should hire a professional photographer and get professional photos done for the new website and there’s a couple of factors to consider before you do this.
Most websites do need to use some type of stock images and our website designers will definitely work with clients to pick out really high quality you know lifestyle, stock images that can be customized for the website.
But there can be a couple of reasons that you may want to get a photographer and get some custom imagery done. One is if you have an e-commerce website. Most e-commerce sites need to have some photos of the products and if you don’t have really high quality photos of your existing products, it can be really important to hire a photographer and get those done for the new site.
Customers are very particular and want to make sure that the product they’re purchasing actually matches what they’re going to end up with in the end, so you don’t want to use any low quality photos or different images that don’t actually match the product.
Another reason that you may want to hire a professional photographer is for your company team page. So when we build a new website, we’ll typically design a custom team page where we’ll put headshot photos of each of your main employees.
Now if you don’t have really nice headshots of each team member, it can be really difficult to create this nice page of the site and make it look really professional. We’ll oftentimes recommend that a client hire photographer and get those images done and then our team will customize them a bit for the actual website page.
